Origen Maria Elena - Castillo, Caturra, C1
The Story Behind Finca María Elena
In the lush mountains of Quindío, where misty mornings and rich volcanic soils shape the character of every harvest, Finca María Elena stands as a tribute to love, memory, and the enduring role of women in coffee.
The farm is managed by Fernando Uribe, a coffee grower whose passion for the land was deeply influenced by his mother, María Elena. She was the heart of the family—someone who believed that caring for nature was inseparable from caring for people. Through her daily work in the fields and her respect for the environment, she taught Fernando that coffee farming was not just about production, but about stewardship, patience, and gratitude for the land.
After her passing, Fernando named the farm María Elena to honor her legacy. Every harvest is a reminder of the values she instilled in him: dedication, humility, and love for nature.
Women at the Heart of Coffee
Across Colombia, women have long played a fundamental role in coffee cultivation—often as caretakers of the farms, guardians of traditional knowledge, and leaders within their communities. From selecting the ripest cherries to guiding sustainable practices, their work shapes the quality and future of Colombian coffee.
At Finca María Elena, this legacy lives on. The farm represents the countless women whose quiet strength and resilience sustain the coffee world. By honoring his mother, Fernando also honors the generations of women who have nurtured the culture of coffee long before it reached cups around the globe.
Coffee with a Story
Today, the coffees from Finca María Elena reflect this philosophy. Grown at 1,500 meters above sea level and processed with 72 hours of natural fermentation, the beans develop a vibrant and expressive profile—bright tartaric acidity with notes of red fruits and plums, balanced by sweet caramel, hazelnut, walnut, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Each cup is more than a sensory experience.
It is a story of family, memory, and the powerful influence of women in coffee.
At Origen, we are proud to share coffees like this—where every bean carries not only flavour, but a legacy. ☕
